This notice explains how Village Vouchers collects and uses personal information when you browse offers, create an account, buy or share a membership, redeem offers, contact us or choose to receive email updates.
Who is responsible for your information?
Village Vouchers is operated by Lee Marquis, who is the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.
Data controller: Lee Marquis

Privacy email: privacy@villagevouchers.uk
Information we collect
- Account information such as your email address, verification status and account identifiers.
- Membership information, including whether you are the paying member or nominated additional member.
- Payment and subscription references supplied by Stripe. Village Vouchers does not store your full card or Apple Pay card details.
- Offer redemption history, eligibility dates, redemption times and related audit information needed to operate the voucher service and prevent misuse.
- Business enquiry details submitted through the website, such as business name, contact name, email address, telephone number and offer information.
- Technical and security information needed to keep you signed in, protect accounts, diagnose problems and operate the service.
- Your email-marketing preference and records showing when, where and under which wording version that preference was given, changed or withdrawn.
- Location information only where a feature asks for it and you choose to allow it. Village Vouchers is not intended to continuously track your location in the background.
How we use your information and our legal bases
- To provide your account, membership and voucher service: where necessary to provide the service you request or perform our contract with you.
- To determine redemption eligibility and maintain redemption history: to provide the service and for our legitimate interests in protecting the integrity of Village Vouchers and preventing misuse.
- To process payments and subscriptions: to perform our contract with you and to meet legal and accounting obligations.
- To secure and operate the service: for our legitimate interests in protecting users, businesses and the Village Vouchers platform.
- To respond to enquiries: to take steps at your request and for our legitimate interests in managing enquiries and business relationships.
- To send promotional emails about new offers: where you have given your consent.
- To use optional location features: where you choose to allow the relevant location access.
Email updates about new offers
We only send promotional emails about newly added Village Vouchers offers where you have actively chosen to receive them. This choice is optional and is not required to create an account, buy a membership or redeem an offer.
You can switch promotional emails off at any time in My account → Privacy & emails. Any promotional email we send will also include an easy way to unsubscribe. Withdrawing marketing consent does not affect your account or membership.
Sign-in, account, membership, payment, security and other genuinely necessary service emails are separate from marketing emails.
When information is required
You can browse public offers without providing account information. To create or verify an account, redeem offers, use membership features or make a payment, we need the information required for those functions. If you do not provide it, those particular functions may not be available.
Who we share information with
We use specialist service providers to operate Village Vouchers. These currently include Cloudflare for hosting, storage, security and related infrastructure, and Stripe for payment and subscription processing. We may also use email-routing or email-delivery services where needed.
These providers receive only the information needed for their role. We do not sell personal information to advertisers. Businesses offering vouchers do not receive your account information simply because you browse an offer. If a particular redemption method genuinely requires information to be shared, the service will make that clear where appropriate.
International transfers
Some service providers may process personal information outside the UK. Where this happens, we rely on the relevant adequacy arrangements, contractual safeguards or other lawful transfer mechanisms used by those providers and required by UK data-protection law.
How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for the purpose for which it was collected and for any legal, accounting, fraud-prevention, dispute or security requirements that continue afterwards.
- Account and membership information is normally kept while the account or membership is active and afterwards only for as long as reasonably needed for legal, accounting, fraud-prevention or dispute purposes.
- Payment and subscription records are kept for the periods required for accounting, tax and legal obligations.
- Redemption history may be kept after a membership ends where it is needed to enforce redemption frequency, prevent misuse, resolve disputes or maintain an audit trail.
- Marketing-consent and withdrawal records may be kept so we can demonstrate how a choice was made and continue to honour an opt-out.
- Business enquiries are kept while we deal with the enquiry and for a reasonable follow-up period, unless a continuing business relationship requires longer retention.
- Security and technical logs are retained only for as long as reasonably needed for security, troubleshooting and abuse prevention.
Your rights
Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access your personal information, correct it, ask for deletion or restriction, object to certain processing, receive certain information in a portable format, and withdraw consent. Some rights are not absolute and may depend on the lawful basis and circumstances.
You have the right to object to direct marketing at any time. You may also have the right to object to other processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interests.
Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.
Automated rules
Village Vouchers uses automated rules to determine practical matters such as whether an offer is currently eligible for redemption based on membership status, offer rules and previous redemption history. These operational checks are not intended to make decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects about you.
Cookies and device storage
Village Vouchers uses essential cookies and local/device storage for sign-in, security, app behaviour and preferences. We do not currently use advertising trackers as part of the core service. If non-essential analytics, advertising or similar technologies are added later, the relevant consent requirements will be reviewed before they are enabled.
Security and personal-data breaches
We use technical and organisational measures intended to protect account and service data. If a personal-data breach occurs, we will assess and record it and make any notifications required by law.
Changes to this notice
We may update this privacy notice when the service, our providers or legal requirements change. The latest version will always be published on this page, with the date of the most recent update shown above.
